SRA investigating immigration lawyers’ “stalling practices”

The Solicitors Regulatory Authority (SRA) is investigating “stalling tactics” employed by lawyers after criticisms from Mr Justice Bernard McCloskey, who has accused lawyers acting for the Rochdale grooming gang of obstructing an immigration tribunal with “sustained and marked disrespect”. He said the men’s solicitors, Nottingham-based firm Burton & Burton, who were funded with legal aid, had failed to submit the necessary papers to the court and had repeatedly asked for adjournments.
