A Government survey claims that the solicitors profession is the 44th most satisfied occupation.
The Cabinet Office conducted a survey to see whether there was a correlation between salary and happiness. And the answer seems to be – not much really. Chief Execs, on average wedge of £117,000, come in at second place. But the top spot is held by the clergy. Answering to an omnipotent boss and a ready supply of altar boys communion wine presumably compensates for the £20,000 remuneration.
Solicitors make a reasonable showing, coming in one spot higher than accountants. But they’re certainly not the happiest workers in their offices. IT directors (18th), HR managers (20th), marketing directors (24th), secretaries (40th) and librarians (43rd) all do better. It’s rather less fun being a receptionist (116th), catering assistant (230th), cleaner (236th) or security guard (263rd).
