Government drops corporate liability law review The Government has abandoned plans to create a new criminal offence for corporate wrongdoing after pledging in its manifesto to hold banks and other financial institutions to account for rate rigging, tax evasion and insurance mis-selling. According to Justice Minister Andrew Selous, “there was little evidence of corporate economic wrongdoing going unpunished.” Campaign group Corruption Watch said: “This decision is shockingly short-sighted. It appears that the government is allowing its pro-business deregulation agenda to derail its anti-corruption commitments.”
