MATRIMONIAL: Supreme Court decision may open floodgates for variation of financial awards 

Practitioners expect a significant number of applications to vary divorce settlements on the grounds of an ex-spouse’s non-disclosure following yesterday’s Supreme Court decision in the Sharland and Gohil appeals. The court ruled that Varsha Gohil and Alison Sharland’s original divorce settlements should be set aside on the basis that their husbands had concealed the true extent of their assets when the agreement was reached.
