internet fraud not investigated

Police failing to pursue online fraudsAn investigation in the Times has found that police are following up less than one in 100 frauds, as cybercrime is overwhelming the authorities. The paper reveals that there have been an estimated 3.2m frauds over the past year but fewer than 9,000 convictions. The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau estimates that three million crimes go unreported each year because banks do not share most card and account fraud with police. Local forces, meanwhile, fail to follow up more than half of the cases they are sent. About 2% of all frauds are reviewed by officers, and less than half again are actively investigated.
