Inquest appeal

Duggan appeal granted

The family of Mark Duggan, whose fatal shooting by a police marksman in Tottenham in 2011 led to riots, are to appeal against an inquest finding that he was “legally killed”. Lord Justice Sales, granting the appeal, said there was “an arguable case” that a jury in January had applied the wrong test when deciding that the officer who fired the fatal shot had acted in self-defence.
