Adjudicator upheld 85 per cent of complaints about HMRC last year
The official Adjudicator upheld 85 per cent of 1,800 complaints about HM Revenue & Customs in the 2014 – 2015 tax year. Some GBP3 million of redress was paid out as a result, much of it consisting of written-off tax. The Adjudicator takes on cases in which the complainant has exhausted HMRC’s own complaints procedure, excluding cases where redress can be sought through the tribunals or courts.
