The Times’ James Hurley discusses how a change in copyright law has wrong-footed manufacturers. The change, which brings Britain into line with European rules and could come into effect next month, will mean much stronger legal protection for the rights-holders of popular designs. Copyright protection for industrially produced designs will be extended from 25 years to 70 years from the death of the creator.
