CHARITY – HMRC will not disclose gift aid abusers to regulator

HMRC has rejected demands that it should warn the Charity Commission about individuals suspected of abusing gift aid or other charitable tax reliefs. The recommendation, made by the influential House of Commons Public Accounts Committee, emerged from the committee’s scrutiny of the Cup Trust scandal, but HMRC says it will not disclose details of any specific taxpayers.
