SFO seeks access to Barclays evidenceThe Serious Fraud Office is pressing Barclays to hand over confidential documents as part of its inquiry into whether the bank covertly lent £5.8bn to Qatari investors. The SFO will put its case for the documents, thought to contain advice from lawyers and senior executives at the bank, at a court hearing in December, which will be closed to the public. Barclays is resisting handing over the documents, saying that they are covered by legal privilege.
