Mother contests “yapping dog” legal bill
A mother facing a £30,000 legal bill because of the incessant yapping of her daughter’s dog is fighting the ruling in court. Kim Eacott’s terrier, Scally, barked constantly when her owner was out because of her ‘separation anxiety’, prompting her neighbours to take both her and her mother Angela Waring to court. In Worcester County Court in 2013, Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins ruled in favour of the neighbours, upholding their noise nuisance claim. However, Mrs Waring is now asking the Appeal Court to rule that she was not her daughter’s keeper and should not have to pay for her failure to control her pet
