Police lose Taser caseJames McCarthy has won a case against Merseyside police after they Tasered him for 11 seconds leading to him suffering a cardiac arrest. Mr McCarthy called for a ban on stun guns after a court ruled he was the victim of excessive force. Sophie Khan, representing McCarthy, said: “This is the first case in the country where the police have been held liable for negligence after the use of a Taser.
