Contract disputes
When a dispute arises over a transaction you have entered into, whether it is a building dispute, an issue involving defective goods, or a tradesman that has deceived you, it is important to be clear about your rights and the steps that can be taken to rectify the problem. These types of dispute are always stressful, time consuming and can often be the only thing on your mind.
The problems that can occur are extremely wide-ranging, and may include:
* Faulty electrical goods
* Faulty motor vehicles when bought from new
* Poor quality workmanship of tradesman, e.g. builders, plumbers, electricians
* Non-delivery of paid for goods
* Warranty disputes
* Second-hand vehicles
* Disputes over utility bills
* Disputes over insurance claims
* Disputes with airlines and tour operators

Important things to consider
When disputing a transaction you have entered into, try to make a note of the following:
* Actual words used that made you enter into the contract in the first place and write them down, verbatim if possible
* The name of the person you spoke to when making the contract
* The date and time of the conversation
* The details of all subsequent people you spoke to about the complaint itself
If you dispute a transaction, it is essential that you act quickly since some claims have very short time limits.
Consider what repercussions there have been as a result of the actual problem. Your solicitor will then be able to consider exactly what kind of claim you have and the extent of the losses you could stand to recover.
