HMRC Announce huge rise in Stamp Duty paid

HM Revenue & Customs’ income from stamp duty land tax has jumped by a third in just one year, reaching GBP9.2 billion in 2013-2014. Fiscal drag, increasing property prices and a more lively residential market all contributed to the increase, as did the tax collected from non-resident investors in high-value London properties.
